Focus, Motivation and Engagement

Dates:

Sunday 29th September 10-12pm

Details:

At Tong Park Farm

2 hour workshop, limited to 6 dogs.
Junior handlers welcome.
£25 per dog (followed by Cues, Clarity and Communication in the afternoon - £45 for both workshops.)

In this workshop we will invite the dog to ask for interaction, allowing them to take responsibility for being ready to work in a training session, meaning you won't have to keep asking him/her to focus on you - focus becomes the default. This will increase the quality of the work you get from your dog, and you will both enjoy it more - if you have to nag your dog to pay attention, it's no fun for either of you! You will learn how to engage with your dog in a way they keep wanting to come back for more and to respond to your dog's cues of when they are ready to work. This workshop is strongly influenced by Denise Fenzi's work on Engagement, which was an absolute game changer for me!

Any questions, please ask, I'm very happy to talk through whether this workshop would be suitable for you and your dog - I enjoy adapting exercises to dogs with unusual needs :)

There are tea and coffee facilities at the venue. We will be working both indoors and outdoors (unless the weather is horrible, when we might stay indoors!). You are welcome to stay to walk your dog in the beautiful farmland after the workshop.

Tong Park Farm is just off Junction 3 of the M54, between Telford and Wolverhampton.
